Ants

Today while catchin a quick break outside, just sitting there, puffin about, minding my own business, i noticed a potato chip on the ground. And then I see this ant going in the direction of the chip. Its a big chip, so i know he cant pick it up. So at first i just wanted to see what he was gonna do. Sure enough, he goes to the chip. He just walks on it at first knowing he cant do anything. He isnt strong enough to pick up the whole chip. He is a lone ant, just searching for food to bring back to his queen and probably really far away from his ant hill.

I dont know what he was thinking, but there he was, valiantly trying to do his thing. So i decided to give him a hand. I pressed my finger into the chip and broke it up into little pieces, pieces small enough for his little ant head to get his jaws into. He moved away a little when I crushed the chip, but then he came back. And he started walking back onto the chip pieces. All of a sudden he cant make up his mind! He is walking from chip to chip, back and forth, just doing nothing. So I start thinking, hmm, maybe he didnt want my help. Maybe he doesnt want some crappy chip piece, he wants the whole deal, one big shot.

Then I start thinking, maybe if this ant is so smart, he would have left and came back with a whole bunch of his ant friends.Surely his ant friends could have helped him carry the chip. I wondered if ants have friends. I wondered if he was really thinking what I was thinking he was thinking. Does he have an ant family? Does he have ant dreams and ant aspirations?

Why would I interfere with matters of ant importance?

To be perfectly honest, i am a god to that ant. I am an all powerful being. I can do so many things that that ant cant do, such as talk, stand on two legs, and drive an automobile. I started to feel bad for the ant. The ant doesn't have a very fun life. He walks and gets food and fights and builds. Thats it. So you know what I did?

I stepped on him.
